America's Top 40 part two

Casey's counting them down this week on America's Top 40! That's right, for decades Casey "Shaggy" Kasem hosted the popular syndicated radio broadcast whereby he'd play the top forty pop music singles, as compiled by Billboard Magazine! Nowadays, who knows WHAT the top forty songs are, what with all the downloading and the i-pods and the hippety-hop, flippety-flop kageeblah wheezeeboolah...
Excuse me, I was channelling Bill Cosby there for a minute. Anyway, if you're like me, you spent a good part of your pre-teen youth listening to the countdown on lazy Saturday afternoons, after spending Saturday mornings listening to Casey voice cartoon characters on the TV. Because we felt a connection with these singles, we wanted our rock heroes to shoot for the top of the charts, while the songs we disliked would hopefully linger somewhere in the high thirties before vanishing forever.
